St. Antony’s Higher School was started in 1910 by Rev Mother Veronica. The second Mother General, St. Teresa’s Congregation. It was conducted in a thatched shed and the sisters were coming from St. Teresa’s Convent and teaching, till they got a house on the opposite side of the road in 1928. Mother Magdalene was the first Headmistress till 1935 she dedicated the School to St. Antony. She was transferred in 1944, Sr. Michael was became the Headmistress and strength of the school is increased. Mother Ann charge the thatched shed into tiled building.
In 1956 we got sanction to open Std V and by few years it became a complete upper primary school. In 1958 Mother Genevieve took charge as Headmistress and Superior. She extended the school building on the western side, two storied building as the students were increasing in number. When Mother Genevieve was transferred Sr. Stella took charge as headmistress. When she was transferred Sr. Callista became the headmistress Sister extended the Primary school building on the western side again. When Sr. Callista retired Sr. Sabina took charge as headmistress.
The children who passed from VII were finding difficult to get proper High school in the town Sr. Rosario (Superior) and Sr. Sabina, along with team of parents and teachers approached the honourable minister for education and sanctioned was received on the 16th of August 1982. Then and there Std VII was started in a temporary shed. Since the classroom were not ready Sr. Antonia the first Headmistress of the High School. By end of May 1983, the class rooms were ready and the High Scholl classes were shifted to the new building with a office room. We obtained sanction to open the parallel English medium class in Std V and in Std VII in 1983-1984.
Sr Fathima continued the construction of the High School building on the western side of the office room, a three stored building and furnished it well.
Sr. Antonia was transferred to St. Teresa’s High School. She constructed the stage in the High School ground and did lot of improvement in the school. In 1991 Mrs. Padmini retired and Mrs Celine P A took chare of the High school. When she was transferred to St. Joseph’s high school Trichur.
Sri.Arul Jytohi became the headmistress in 1994 and the school rapid steps to developments and became the BEST SCHOOL in Cochin. In 1995 Miss Renjini Mathew scored II Rank in the state for S.S.L.C Examination. We had 100% result in 1996. Sr.Arul Jyothi brought a School bus with the help of the PTA. in 1999 the School received the BEST SCHOOL AWARD from the educational department. We received sanction to open the higher secondary school in 2000. A new building costing 90 lakhs was ready. We started class 2 science batches and one commerce batch with 150 students. The school has very good school band which is highly appreciated by the public. The school extends its services to the Archdiocese of Varapoly, being the Best K.C.S.L unit for the past five years. The school received the BEST SCHOOL AWARDED in 2000 for the KSS PTA, the Verapoly Archdiocese and Cochin welfare society.
Sr.Arul Jyothi built the computer lab above the stage and provided 27 computers for the whole school. She also bought a big bus and a larger gate was made for the better convenience of the vehicles and students. When she was transferred to St.Teresa’s Higher Secondary, as Principal, Mrs.Annie Margaret took chare as principal in 2003. She rendered her service silently for the period 2003-2006. 2004-05 was outstanding and a memorable one. We were graded with the overall trophy for KSCL, Science and Sports. As part of her administration, she constructed the tress over the L.P section and installed fans in the auditorium.
Mrs. Annakutty P X became the first Principle of the Higher Secondary during this year and administration was separated to H S Section and Higher Secondary Section.
Mrs. Tessy P U was the Headmistress of the institution for the period 2006-2007. She built the kitchen for the noon feeding during her time. Fans were installed in the LP hall and internet was connected. Mrs.Tessy P U handed over the charge to Mrs. Elizabeth Xavier on 31st May. Sje got the sanction for the noon feeding programme of the lack of funds, find means for kitchen gas connection and necessary utensils for the noon feeding programme. For the convenience of the students the old wash baison was demolished and constructed a new one.
The teaching and non-teaching staff under the leadership of Smt. Elizabeth Xavier are working enthusiastically as a team for the over-all development of our students and for the institution. With the Grace of God and our patrons saint guidance we are working together for the betterment of the school.
